To successfully point your device to our servers, follow these steps:
1. Server Address
- Tracker Destination:
Point your trackers to the following server address:
track.iotkinect.com
2. Port
- Port Information:
Determine the correct port for your tracker model. For example:
- Teltonika devices typically use port 12070.
3. IMEI Number or Device ID
- Identify Your Device:
The IMEI/Device ID is printed on your tracker.
This identifier is used to recognize your device when it sends data to our servers.
- To add the device to the platform, follow these steps:
- Go to Admin > Client > Client Overview.
- Click the "Add Asset Wizard" button at the top of the page.
This ensures the platform is ready to accept data from your device.
4. APN Settings
- Set Up Data Connectivity:
Contact your SIM card provider to obtain the necessary APN details (APN, username, and password).
Send an SMS with the APN settings to your tracker to enable data connectivity.
5. SMS Commands from the Manufacturer

Configure Your Tracker:
Your GPS tracker manufacturer will provide SMS commands to configure the device. Key configuration steps include:
- Set the device to report in UTC 0 / GMT 0 timezone (ensure this is the first command sent).
- Configure the device to send the oldest record first (if supported).
- Set the device to report to our domain and port.
- Configure the device to use the APN settings from your SIM/network provider.

Additional Commands:
Ask the manufacturer about these optional commands:
- Suppress GPS Drift.
- Enable the hardware odometer.
- Enable harsh behavior events (also known as "green driving").
- Enable BLE scanning (if applicable).

Report Rate Suggestions:
- When ignition/motion is off: Report every 1 hour.
- When ignition/motion is on: Report on the first instance of any of the following:
- Every 30 seconds
- 25° angle change
- 500 meters distance
- Speed delta of 15 kph
6. Whitelisting (If Applicable)

7. Initial GPS Lock
Once you’ve added your device to the platform and pointed it to our servers:
- Place your device outside in clear view of the sky for 30 minutes to allow it to acquire a GPS lock.
8. Troubleshooting
- Device Not Online:
If the device doesn’t come online after 30 minutes, try sending troubleshooting SMS commands provided by the manufacturer (e.g., getstatus or getinfo for Teltonika devices).
- Ensure there are two spaces before the command when sending the SMS.
- Use the device’s reply to help diagnose the issue.
